In this global credit based system there is a fundamental need to price risk. That’s why there are credit scores and interest rates—the price of credit money.
Specifically for personal credit cards, if you a carrying balances then you have generally failed at being a wise adult. The choice to pay interest on consumption is retarded and you deserve to be poor.
If you’re smart and pay off revolving consumer debt in the cycle you are a winner. You don’t pay interest so why the fuck do you care what interest rates are?
So here’s the setup that the fools who pretend to lead you want; Make it ok to carry consumer debt, which jacks up your credit score and makes more money for the credit reporting agencies, and the trade is that you pay a little less interest.
