$1K deposit on a $400K car is insane.
I rent exotic cars in Europe and the MINIMUM deposit I’ve ever had was $10K. It’s often $15K+ depending on the car.
I don’t understand the proliferation of exotic car rental businesses in America. How do they get insurance? Who’s financing these goofies? Are they even legit?
When I was a teenager I actually worked as a car prep for a nationwide rental company. People do all kinds of crazy shit to rental cars. I once had to shop a car where the renter had taken a Nissan Maxima somewhere and when it came back it reaked of a dead body. I will never forget that smell as long as I live.
If it were my $400K car and you showed up looking like you’re fresh out the pen, you would just be asked to leave. I don’t care how much of a deposit you could make.
