I had Claude run an analysis on US Crude Birth Rate data, going back to 1970. By 2023, it had fallen to 10.7 (which was a 40% collapse in 53 years). I wanted to investigate the decline from a Chaos Theory Bifurcation perspective, which is the same mathematics used to model ecosystem and population collapse. Que the “Undertaker Bell”! 🔔☠️
The system’s restoring force (its ability to snap back after a shock like COVID) is nearly gone! The return map slope sits at ~1.02 post year 2000. A slope of 1.0 means the system is essentially a random walk. One large enough perturbation and it doesn’t recover. Linear and logistic projection models both point to demographic collapse somewhere around 2080–2087 if current trends hold. The picture I've included tells the story visually.
