There’s a question I think more men need to ask themselves today:
Why are so many black men still chasing love like it’s the 1990s?
Because the truth is, the world has changed.
A lot of men, and mostly black American men were raised on an idea of romance that came from movies, from stories, and especially from music. I know I was. Think about the golden era of R&B — artists like Boyz II Men, Keith Sweat, Brian McKnight, Jodici, and R. Kelly singing about devotion, sacrifice, and giving your whole life to one woman. Those songs painted a picture of “love” as the ultimate goal.
But that is now a dead era💀
Today, the landscape of relationships is very different. The smart phone and later media changed things. Economics changed things. Expectations changed. And yet many men , especially black American men are still operating with a script written decades ago.
They’re chasing love as if it’s guaranteed to reward them. It is NOT guaranteed.
